The KBZ Foundation has consistently taken swift and committed action to support communities affected by natural disasters in Myanmar. Following the powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Central Myanmar on March 28, 2025, the Foundation promptly donated MMK 15 billion for immediate disaster response, and to provide long-term support for those affected, the Foundation has now established the KBZ Center Mandalay with an initial fund of MMK 30 billion, with a total of 45 billion is being contributed. The center officially opened its doors on June 10, 2025.
At the opening ceremony, a donation of 6,700 bags of cement was made for 25 religious buildings, including 19 monasteries and nunneries in Mandalay that were damaged by the earthquake. In addition, 870 bags of rice were donated to support earthquake-affected communities. The ceremony also included the presentation of certificates of recognition to donors and contributors who supported the establishment of the center. Guests were given a guided tour of the facilities.
The KBZ Center Mandalay, located on a 16-acre site at the corner of Manawhari street, 73rd Street x 110th Street in Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay, the center is being established to serve as a long-term disaster response hub, operating for 1 to 5 years, to support communities affected by the natural disasters. Initially, the center will focus on providing free services to earthquake-affected communities. These services include free services for the public, including Medical Services, Essential Aid Distribution, Meals and Community-Kitchen, and self service LPG gas kitchens, shower, toilet facilities, laundry machines for Hygiene and Sanitation, and Clean Water Access, along with multi-purpose rooms that can be used for conducting disaster preparedness and rescue training sessions. All services will be provided free of charge, aiming to support the recovery and well-being of communities impacted by the disaster.
In addition, at the KBZ Center Mandalay, dedicated loan services from KBZ Bank have been included to help earthquake-affected individuals quickly rebuild their homes and restore their businesses with momentum. These include a special long-term Home Loan department, a fast-track SME Loan department, and Corporate Loan offerings. To ensure swift and effective banking services at the center, dedicated service counters have been opened to provide consultations, share necessary information, accept applications, and process them in accordance with procedures. The approved loans will then be disbursed through branch networks as quickly as possible.
Furthermore, to provide efficient, convenient, and rapid support for earthquake-affected communities, services from KBZPay Center, KBZMS General Insurance, and KBZ Life Insurance will also be available at the center.
